Robin Hurst is the vice president of Projects for Southern Company’s Technical and Project Solutions organization (T&PS). He leads a team of approximately 250 project managers, construction managers, and field coordinators in planning and implementation of major capital projects and O&M retrofit projects across the generation fleet in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.
Robin’s career began in 1993 with Southern Company and has centered on project and construction management for the past 20 years, during which he has facilitated several vital projects. He has worked on a team to develop sites for nearly 8,000 MW of natural gas combustion turbine generation. He has managed projects to install electrostatic precipitators, selective catalytic reduction for NOx, and flue gas desulfurization technologies.
Robin serves as the executive sponsor for the Project Safety Leadership Team within T&PS and focuses on cultivating a culture of continuous learning through transparency.
Robin earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from The University of Alabama in 1993 and a master of science degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University in 1997. He holds a Professional Engineering license in Alabama.
Robin resides in Birmingham, Ala., with Stacy, his wife, and their two children, Crawford and Kate.
